嵌入式視覺聯(lián)盟(Embedded Vision Alliance,EVA)成立于2011年,由BDTI領(lǐng)導(dǎo),代表著行業(yè)為在嵌入式系統(tǒng)中實現(xiàn)計算機(jī)視覺快速增長而展開的全面協(xié)作。EVA是一個會員制實體,始終致力于鼓勵和授權(quán)嵌入式系統(tǒng)設(shè)計人員使用嵌入式視覺技術(shù),并為系統(tǒng)設(shè)計工程師提供他們在設(shè)計方案中高效整合嵌入式視覺技術(shù)的必要工具。

What is Embedded Vision?
“Embedded Vision” refers to machines that understand their environment through visual means. Embedded vision is the merging of two technologies: embedded systems and computer vision. An embedded system is any microprocessor-based system that isn’t a general-purpose computer. Embedded systems are ubiquitous: they’re found in automobiles, kitchen appliances, consumer electronics devices, medical equipment, and countless other places.
Computer vision is the use of digital processing and intelligent algorithms to interpret meaning from images or video. Computer vision has mainly been a field of academic research over the past several decades.
Today, however, a major transformation is underway. Due to the emergence of very powerful, low-cost, and energy-efficient processors, it has become possible to incorporate vision capabilities into a wide range of embedded systems.
One successful example is the Microsoft Kinect video game controller that uses embedded vision to track the movements of Xbox 360 users, avoiding the need for hand-held controllers. Microsoft sold eight million Kinect units in the first two months after introduction. Over the next few years, there will be a rapid proliferation of embedded vision technology into many kinds of embedded systems.
THE E.V. Alliance
As system designers increasingly incorporate vision capabilities into embedded systems, it has become clear that there is a lack of readily available, practical information to guide them. While computer vision research has generated numerous textbooks and research papers, there is very little information available to guide system designers in designing practical embedded vision solutions, including the selection of chips, cameras, algorithms, tools, and programming languages.
The primary goal of the Embedded Vision Alliance is to inspire and empower embedded system designers to use embedded vision technology. A key means of achieving this goal is providing system design engineers with the practical know-how they need in order to effectively incorporate embedded vision technology into their designs.
